Local Counsel Services
Finestein & Malloy is frequently called upon by law firms that do not have New Jersey offices to serve as their local counsel in New Jersey litigation. We understand our role and respect the integrity of the primary attorney-client relationship.
Our attorneys offer knowledge of local court rules, familiarity with New Jersey judicial procedures, and relationships with the members of the local bar. We are experienced in matters involving removal to federal court, remand of actions to state court, personal jurisdiction, service of process and conflicts of law.
We tailor the level of our local counsel services to address each client’s individual needs and preferences. Thus, our services may be limited to acting as attorney of record, advising out-of-state counsel on compliance with local rules and moving for pro hac vice admission. Or, if the client so desires, we can assume a larger role in the litigation while the client’s home-state lawyer consults with and advises the client on strategic decisions. In either case, we seek to communicate/coordinate with primary counsel in a way that ensures efficient handling of the matter and proper allocation of resources.
